M1907 'National Match' Style Shooters Sling
Designed many years ago buy a man much smarter than myself, these are the ideal companion for any form of rifle shooting or toting. It is the ultimate and most popular shooters aid in pulling the rifle tight and steady against your body. My variation of this sling features:
-Thick 10 Ounce Back Only veg tan leather cut at 1.25" wide
-48-54" upper strap (custom lengths available).
-American made parkerized steel 'frogs' secured via brass or copper rivets
-Numbered holes for easy acquisition of settings when you swap the sling to another rifle.
-Two hand fitted/stitched keepers standard
-Oiled then hand rub finished
I didn't want to use an acrylic finish on something that gets bent up like these slings because it will crack and look bad with a lot of use. Instead I chose a product that I've used a bit now in the shop that's called Obenaufs' Heavy Duty LP. This was originally made for firefighters out west to keep their boots safe in the wildfires! It's abrasion & water resistant as well so should give a good service life with just a bit of upkeep.Should you choose to maintain this dressing I recommend 1-2 times a year.
**Over oiling to "soften" WILL damage the leather and encourage degradation of the fibers. I will not stand behind a rig damaged from over treatment to assist in the break in process.
